What topics are covered in an Online Workshop?

Our workshops are specifically designed to solve particular issues that a client wants to overcome. They may wish to improve participants’ English abilities in a very specific area; for example, table-staff interactions in a port city popular with international cruise tourists, or an undergraduate biology course taught in English with students from a range of countries. We guarantee that the Workshop's content is based exclusively on your needs.

Our Consultants provide you with an overview of the workshop’s content, before the workshop or series of workshops begins. Using the expertise developed over their educational and vocational lifetimes, our Consultants design suitable engaging and effective activities within the ABEL model. In this way we maximise the learning potential of the participants. You will be able to see an immediate improvement in their abilities to communicate in English in the specific area being focused on in the workshops.

How long is an Online Workshop?

Workshops are as long as you need them to be! Depending on your needs and your group’s availability, you can schedule sessions for as long as you like. A series of workshops can also be designed, as required. Please see our prices for the Online Workshops and their durations.

I have employees/students in various locations, do we all need to be in the same room for the workshop?

Not at all. We will ask you how the participants will take part in the workshop during the design process. When participants are located in the same building and they have access to a suitable room, this (and other factors like the availability of projectors etc.) is taken into account to maximise the educational setting of each Client's situation and specific needs. However, when participants are located in different buildings — whether in the same city or even different countries! — ABEL's online mode of delivery allows participants to take part in the workshops wherever they are.

Course materials can also be shared and used online so this is not a problem, and many participants are actually used to taking part in online chats and seminars. We are confident that whatever your situation or methods your employees have of joining our online workshops can be used to their best abilities.

What do I need to book an Online Workshop?

This depends on you and your group. We use a range of video-conferencing tools, so you can specify which one you prefer and simply ensure your participants are connected to the internet when you want the session to start.

Do all participants have to use their cameras during an Online Workshop?

This depends on the Client who contracts the workshop and the individual participants. If you don’t want to share your image, for whatever reason, that is no problem at all. ABEL is an ethical, non-discriminatory company so your comfort is a joint priority alongside ensuring that you receive the best guidance and support possible.

We do not force participants to activate their camera during a workshop, but they will be able to see the Consultant in their role as a workshop facilitator.

I see you are based in Europe, are you available in my timezone?

We have hand-picked English-language Consultants in many different countries, so this is normally not a problem! Simply contact us and we are sure we can arrange a consultation for you.

I need support in a very specific area, how do I know ABEL can help?

I don’t know what help I need, how do I explain to the Consultant what I want to do in the session?

Our initial contact form is based on years of experience of helping people overcome problems in English language communication. It is designed to help you work out and describe what you want help with. However, it is only a starting point and your sessions can be adapted if other topics of interest or other issues you need help with occur to you during a session.

Remember that our Consultants are experts and you can help you organise your ideas and express them clearly!

I am worried that my level of Spoken English isn’t good enough for an Online Workshop, what can I do?

Please don’t worry, this is a common problem and can even be a worry for those who have grown up speaking English!

Trying a new way of learning is always a bit scary, but our expert Consultants are used to helping people of all abilities and we will be able to accommodate your needs.
